·Joined Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 1978, Company Officer, introducing a wide variety of leadership, discipline, personal development programs, improving Regimental structure of MMA.Promoted to Assistant Commandant in 1981, and Commandant of Cadets in 1983. Assumed duties of Dean of Students, 1991.Promoted to Vice President of Students Services, 1994, and Executive Vice President, 2003.
·Elected Academy President June 2005 by vote of the MMA Board of Trustees with military rank of Rear Admiral conferred by the U.S. Maritime Administrator.
